Method and assumptions
Hay eaten per horse/day, as fed × Number of horses ÷ (1 − Share of purchased hay lost / 100) ÷ Weight of one bale × Price per bale, bag or visitThe rate is expressed as dry matter. Pasture input is dry matter, not fresh grass weight. The amount to buy divides consumption by (1 − loss fraction). Adjust every assumption; these are not veterinary feeding instructions.
Monthly amounts use 30 days; annual amounts use 365 days. Budget transfers use annual cost divided by 12.
